G'day again Jack
From a quick look at the weather and rainfall for those parts of the bush, the roads you want to travel on will be fine.
From Warren to Carinda - either side of the Macquarie River - is a fair gravel / black soil road. I haven't driven on it lately but as it's a "main" road councils keep them in pretty good condition. When you go from Carinda up the Brewon Road towards the bitumen (north of the Barwon), if the weather has been good you can take a right and follow the dirt (and I mean dirt) road on the southern side of the Barwon instead of taking the blacktop. Cannot recall the name of the road but it's at
crossroads a few k's south of the Barwon River. It's a nice drive away from any heavy trucks that frequent the h'way.
Few narrow bridges and probably a few corrogations but what the heck - it's all part of the journey isn't it.
Walgett Council (and al the other councils out that way) close all the unsealed roads even after only a few ml's so a call to them might be worth the few cents for the call.
MM me if you need more info.
Elders weather site indicates a high chance of rain this coming Friday and Saturday for the CW slopes and plains.
Cheers
