Funny how it is the visitors who are the rude ones. If you cannot offer a positive contribution keep it to yourself.

G'day Jack

I suppose the roads will depend on which way you want to get from Nyngan to Walgett.
If you travel up towards Bourke and turn right at Coolibah then to Brewarrina and then to Walgett on the Kamilaroi H'way , it's all blacktop so no problems. Or you could go all the way to Bourke and then follow the H'way to Walgett.

There are back roads that are gravel or black soil roads but I'm guessing you want to steer clear of them.

Cheers

Hi all
my original post was a little vague. My plan is travel from Nevertire to Warren to McQuarie Marshes then Carina and on to Walgett. I was wanting information on road conditions after the rain. I have an off road caravan so that is not an issue.

Thanks again.

G'day again Jack

From a quick look at the weather and rainfall for those parts of the bush, the roads you want to travel on will be fine.

From Warren to Carinda - either side of the Macquarie River - is a fair gravel / black soil road. I haven't driven on it lately but as it's a "main" road councils keep them in pretty good condition. When you go from Carinda up the Brewon Road towards the bitumen (north of the Barwon), if the weather has been good you can take a right and follow the dirt (and I mean dirt) road on the southern side of the Barwon instead of taking the blacktop. Cannot recall the name of the road but it's at crossroads a few k's south of the Barwon River. It's a nice drive away from any heavy trucks that frequent the h'way.
Few narrow bridges and probably a few corrogations but what the heck - it's all part of the journey isn't it.
Walgett Council (and al the other councils out that way) close all the unsealed roads even after only a few ml's so a call to them might be worth the few cents for the call.

MM me if you need more info.

Elders weather site indicates a high chance of rain this coming Friday and Saturday for the CW slopes and plains.

Cheers

The road to the W of the marshes is sealed all the way to Carinda. If you are going that way a stop over at Willie Retreat is worth while. The facilities were good a few years ago. You will find it in the top RH corner of Hema 31 G13.

Thanks John

My trip will be mid July as we are heading to Lightning Ridge for the Opal Festival and will be travelling slowly. I will keep an eye on Elders and will ring Council. Thanks for the side info on the alternate road. I will keep a lookout for it. I will make some trip notes in case others want the same info in future.
Cheers to you and others who have commented.
