Satellite dish

Graham below mentions the brand STRONG. This is the box I have and it works fine. I too went for the larger dish. Shop around as I said and you shouldn't need to pay more than 350.

Beware of really cheap sets .

Some have lightweight Chinese dishes which are very thin as was the one I mentioned above.

It was so thin the badly fitting bracket on the back had distorted it so maybe thats why it wouldnt lock on.

Another vanner left his on the A frame and it was folded around the pole when he got to the next camp.
Most stupid thing to do.

Pay a bit more and get a good one

Mine has a Strong Aussie made set top box and a Taiwanese dish Properly crimped ends on the cables and an Optus card included ($99) worth.
Also has a one piece twist and release LBN arm and not 3 screwons as some have (They are home dishes sold as mobile)

Look at the website and see whats there. Only 4 or 5 days for the postage and you can ring them if any probs they are pretty good about it.

There is no contract but if you dont get a card with it you have to buy one and when you get to WA you dont get Imparja or 7

Only GWN and WIN. You always get SBS and ABC If you have Foxtel you can use your home box as its on the same satellite. You can also have Foxtel IQ with a different dual LNB

You have to get the card initialised by Optus and Imparja and tell them when you got to WA to get it re enabled for Win and GWN
However with the right card you dont , you get them all everywhere.

That stuff is no better than what I bought for $539. the box is an unbranded version of a Strong or copy by the look of it.

Firstly let me say I was not referring to anyone in my comment about overpriced rubbish. It was merely an observation that does happen.
EG some Ebay goods and not only in this field.

I did look at the website and the boxes I saw were advertised as Signal master Pro
They look identical to the Strong box I have except do not have the Strong name on them hence the feeling of being copies.
A reasonable assumption.
Had I decided to buy a satset before I left Qlnd I maybe would have bought from them.

However what I bought is doing the job and is very similar for a better price so i am happy.

Probably the cheapest and best value for money is Johnnys Electronics in Katherine.
Provided you get the right stuff his service and prices are excellent.
Unfortunately I got impatient and ordered mine the week before I got there due to a mix up in his name.
