Hi all, here we go again. I have looked back on archived threads on this subject, most being compared between yamy 2.4 and honda 2.0. with the newer yamy 2.0 just wanted to get the lowdown before i shell out the $2k for either. thinking more towards Honda ??. Any comments on the subject would be great :)

Cheers Deano

Heya D,

im a long-term, high usage yamaha owner, i have a mate the same but with a honda....

he complains about the costs of honda parts and servicing.

I have found the yamaha is built for in-field serviceing, easy maintainence and much cheaper parts...

I havnt needed any parts yet, My yamaha has almost 8000hours on it.... lets see the honda'a alloy bore do that...

Also consider the new yamaha2.0 is the most advanced and freshest design available, all the other design have been around for almost a decade....

yeh, thats my concern. the yamy is new and like all new models i dont know if there are generic problems with them yet. on paper they look identical but the main issues are the bore construction material and servicability. are the honda EU20i ali bore ?? or is it just the EU10i

Hi,
Go the Yammy, it is 2kva nominal rating 2.4 peak, whereas the Honda is 1.6 kva nominal and 2.0 peak. It is also a little quieter.

Cheers

Err not quite right.

Yammy 2000 is 2000 peak 1600 cont same as Honda 2ui but both good units

I have 2x yammy 2400's and have had no trouble but am looking to change one for a Yammy 2000 as the 2400 will not fit in the camper slot made for it.

By the way the linking cable and box for these units contain no smart tech just the wires joined together and connected to the power point, the smarts are in the inverter part of the gennys.

Sorry,

I was thinking of the 2400 noted in the previous post. For the 2000 you are correct.

Cheers

Its very hard these day with so many products on the market to decide which item to spend your hard earned cash on . There are many pro's and Con's concerning Gennys aka performance , reliability , fuel consumption , weight and Decibels it produces . Personally I have a Honda 2.0 EU and it is flawless , I do alot of camping in the North of WA and really rely on my little Honda , It starts first pull , uses about 4 litres every 12 hours and is extremely quiet only 52 db which when camping is quite comforting as the last thing we wanted was a screaming Genny while trying to have a beer round the barby. Do a little research before you buy as it really is horses for courses but if it was my money the Honda wins hands down...Hope this helps :-)
