Another question for Prado owners...I'm installing a Uniden 089 in my 2000 Prado GXL. I have gone with a gutter mount but does anyone have any clues on the best way of bringing the antenna cable in?

Cheers

Yep,

Mine sits on the drivers side, just forward of the centre pillar.

Run the cable forward along the gutter. I secured the cable here with a cable tie through one of those selfsticking square things you'll get from the electronics shop.

You'll need to temporarily remove the black gutter trim and push the coax into the gutter and replace the trim. Cut a slit in the rubber that takes the wiring from the drivers door into the car and feed the coax inside (wetting the coax may help). Remove the drivers side kickboard and retrieve the coax from inside. Then run it to the set and solder on the plug.

Buy a short stubbie aerial for $12 - its the only aerial I use 90% of the time - they work well when roof mounted and are indestructible.
