Friends of ours at
Kilcowera Station have reported good rain in the area over the Christmas break. The Bulloo shire has been drought declared for a long time so I reckon they will all be pretty pleased with the rain and floods. Fishing should be good from now on.
I stayed at Kilcowera in 2007 and it was dry then but it is evidently transformed into a green oasis at the moment. A real boom and bust cycle for the semi arid mulga rangeland country in SW Qld. It's halfway between
Thargomindah and
Hungerford. Cheers gecko

We stayed there for a few days in September last year and received an email from Greg and Toni over the xmas weekend to say they had received 97mm of rain on xmas day which I thought was gr8 seeing when we were there in September the rainfall for Jan-Sept was 25mm!!!! Gr8 to see it fell out there where they so desperately need it. Everytime I think my lawn has been brown I think of them and realise it's not really that bad after all.
