Has anybody had any experience with these tents? Myself and a friend purchased one recently after doing what we considered was a fair amount of research including good reports from the Anaconda guy that sold them to us. We went on our first camping trip on the weekend just gone and granted it was a windy weekend but the awnings on this tent (there's one over the door on each side of the middle room of three rooms) that are secured by way of two poles with guys ropes hoolding down the poles, just flapped all night and drove us insane! There is nowhere to tie them down (ie not use the awnings) and try as we might we couldnt get enough pressure on the poles to keep the awning tight enough so the awnings didnt flap. I am hoping in less windy conditions they wont flap as much but looking at the design I cant see how they wont flap. Just can not believe that for a tent that is so well designed elsewhere they can have made such a big blue with these stupid awnings - cant tie them down, cant take them off - just drove me to distraction. I am extremely disappointed with my $1000 purchase. Has anybody had a similar experience and worked out how to fix the problem?

I'm not certain it is the same issue - but on my 300 lite plus the awning sags and collects water unless I (a) drop one of the 2 poles right down, or (b) put a spare pole up under the middle of the awning (with a piece on end of pole to avoid hurting awning). In windy weather it does require a bit of tension on the extra pole to keep it from falling down. The extra pole stops it flapping in the wind quite effectively.

We actually asked blackwolf about it (mainly for the water pooling) and they said you had to drop one of the poles down to avoid it. Bit of a disappointing answer.

When in a hurry (overnight stop) I've sometimes just folded the awning back over the tent and tied it off on both sides to whatever is handy. Would be nice to have a neater solution.

Thanks Chisel, that's helpful. How do you secure the pole you put up in the middle of the awning?

Just with pressure up into the awning. It does come down if it gets too windy. I can't think of a good way to secure it.

When it's windy, we use two ropes per pole for tension, extending them out in different directions. The ropes we use are thicker ones and are run through a spring and then pegged down and tightened after. This setup is so much more effective than using only the orange ropes that come with your Black Wolf.

If it's raining, I drop a corner as well.
