Just a warning,
when I went to open the link my virus program came up with a warning that it contained a Trojan.

Mate thats a great read, what a great job a real reminder of Colin's Toyota to Nissan conversion type job.

A great option for those inclined and with the abilities.

Good one.

What a whole load of crap...!!!!

The 200 is no softer than either the 100 or 80, honestly guys, get a grip and not on the thing you have obviously got a grip on...but reality.

Or maybe get a better job with better pay because anybody who says the 80 or 100 is better than the 200 in any way, is either insane but most likely, plain jealous...

Godammit, I am so sick of reading this utter rubbish....I had a 100 and it couldn't be described on the same page as the 200 in any way, particularly in the engine department and mine also had IFS, and a much lesser version than that in the 200.

Oh, and while I am at it, I paid $96K for a 100 series GXV, V8 petrol in 1998, and in 2008, paid $92K for a VX V8 TTD, vastly better equipped in every respect than the GXV of 1998... So sure it is not cheap, but compared to what..?? Certainly not a similarly equipped 100 series.

whoa-easy cowboy!

Hes talking about a 105 not a 100.

"Godammit, I am so sick of reading this utter rubbish"-probably better to unforce yourself from reading it then!

Hes done a sensational job with it, and while it looks like your taking it personally, I reckon hes done it for his own reasons and not to ruin your day!

Maybe cos (as can be seen by the figures he provided) hes got a vehicle he loves and isnt afraid to bash around the bush a little at a price he is comfortable with.

Don put a cork in it. Not everyone wants an overweight 200 series to push through the bush in.

IMO ,he would have been better off with a turbo 6 or turboing his old 1HZ ,but he built and got what he wanted.

The 105 body electrics are a lot easier to work with for the home mechanic and that is attractive to some

I think it depends on what you want to use it for Don and how long you intend to keep it. I don't think the 200 is better than the 100 & 80 in every way for everyone, but dynamically there is no contest, 200 series is fantastic and for a new vehicle there really isn't a competitor.

If I could afford to update a vehicle like that every few years then there would be one parked in the driveway now for sure.

Sorry guys,

I got carried away after reading the opening few lines of the extract which went on about how soft the Landcruiser had become from the 80 and then 100. This is a statement that makes my blood boil because I think it is absolute BS and its all about the front suspension. I maintain my 200 IFS is every bit as tough as the live axles of the 80 and, if you must the 105 and it is certainly more robust than the 100 series IFS.

And, courtesy of KDSS, I get as much articulation, or more, than a live axle 80 or 105.

And for the record, I agree with most scribes that the best on and off road 4WD is the Disco 4 (and D3 before it). The reason I didn't buy it was concerns over weight transfer while towing but that is another topic altogether, so won't get into that, it's been done to death.

But obviously I am also very happy with my 200 which is now almost ready to go on our round Australia trip starting March. The suspension is done (OME), snorkel, bar, tyres yesterday.., (Mickey Thompson ATZ 4 rib), winch next. Draws and second row floor and barrier done. That will go everywhere I want to go.

My observations about this transplant:

1. What's the point?
Original 6 cyl engine: power 151kW, torque 430nm.
New V8 engine: power 151kW, torque 430nm.

2. I agree with Don M. All negative comments about the 200 Series come from NON owners.

I'm glad I ain't too scared to be lazy

What's surprising about that? Why would somebody buy it if they didn't like it? On the flip side, presumably somebody bought it because they already liked it.

1HZ wont get 151kw/430nm with a turbo, those figures are exactly the factory ones for 1HD-FTE so Im guessing GB may have confused them?
