I usually split my time either sleeping in the car on trips, or taking a camper van to use as a base station. As far as the latter is concerned, I purchased a 19” LCD screen and connected it to a Japanese antenna which I already had.
No matter what I tried, it wouldn’t receive a signal.... or at the very best, a foggy reception.
So I called an expert in to have a look at it, and after one and a half hours spent in 40+ heat, he was just about ready to give up (me too).
We were sitting in the garage with a couple of bottles of water, when he said ‘I’ll
check the connections’.
You guessed it, the antenna point was full of dried out mud. At some stage I must have forced the connection too hard, and damaged the pin.
Now I spray the connection on the van before going away and, place a bit of Gaffa tape over it. Since then there have been no problems with mud or dust.
Regards
Kim

The mud wasps strike again!
I've got in the habit of putting rubber caps on everything that they are likely to get into, air hoses, fittings on air tools, anything that needs to connect to something else and allow connection whether it be air, water or electricity and we live in suburbia, surrounded by bush though.
