I am trying to plot a track from
Thylungra and Clifton without going via Bulgroo
Is this bit of the DTDV road prohibited or something because the program keeps sending me the long way around.
Thanks Wayne B

Think I have it sorted now. Just had to place a few markers on the track I wanted to use

.......and I thought it may have been the incorrect spelling of Diamantina that may have been causing you grief.
Just being a smarty pants...LOL.

Wayne.
From Thylungra/Cifton you are on the main
Windorah road.
Bulgroo is N/E of
Thylungra.
An interesting diversion is to go from
Thylungra across to the Kyabra
waterholes (the road goes pretty much opposite the Thy. H/S buildings)
Good camping/fishing at Kyabra. This is the
Eromanga road. About 2k. past the
waterholes a road turns off and goes N/W through Raymore and on to Keeroongooloo.
This road takes you almost to the H/S, but turns sharp right just before it. This then takes you back to the main road coming out at Tenham.
Being all active station property, leave all gates as you find em (open, open. Closed, close em after you!)
At the moment though, that country would be pretty wet/innundated

Thank you for that.

Your GPS is going back to the days before the Railway (which went
Quilpie)and the main town in the district to the East was
Adavale. The Bulgroo is on what was the main road from
Adavale to Stony Point (
Windorah). There were a couple of other small settlements along that road that have now disappeared.
That road (and town in the case of
Adavale) is like many in the west that died at the whim of the Government pen when development dollars went elsewhere than where the drovers and teamsters initially established them.
A few of those names take me back to "Kings in Grass Castles" by Mary Durak about the Durak's and Costello's who opened up all that country.
Thylungra, Ray, Galway, Sth Galway, Tenham and so
forth were all associated with them.
