When we go away we like to have a game or two while having a few drinks ect, usually before Sundown, so I get out my Boules, find a nice flat bit of grass or sand if we are up the beach, throw out the Jack or my Little Wooden Ball, and see who can toss or lob our Boules the nearest to the Little Wooden Ball, the closest Boule to Little Wooden Ball wins, So I was just wondering if any one else plays with their Boules, or some other form of entertainment while camping ect, maybe they might like Cricket or Shuttle Cock, or god forbid Golf, it wouldn't be the first time I have chased a Orange Golf Ball up the beach for a few ks, and then chased it back to the camp site.

Cheers

Hi Daza,
Many years ago, before kids(BK),
we use to go to Cangi with an older gentleman, that use to take his dart board.
Two 9ft star pickets belted in with the back of an axe, the board was part of the bed base in his Hi Ace van, hang the dart board on a hook, a fluro light hanging from the top and two big step out from the board and throw the axe on the ground for ya throwing line. Hook up the little Gennie and all was good.

Boules for us (although a Froggy backpacker once told me we were actually playing petanque...)

Next thing packed after the frisbee!

I know it as petanque too. Lived in Vanuatu in the 80's and we played a long distance version, along beaches, thru back yards, and over fences.
Went back to Vanuatu a few months ago for the first time since 1984 and found there is now a large petanque rink(?) in the middle of town (Port Vila) which has multiple games running from early morning until late at night.
All ages involved, women too, and the skill level much better than I remember.

We often play Boule out on our patch of bush, up hill and down all over the countryside, heaps better than just sitting on your butt playing cards or scrabble or whatever. Think we could all do with a little exercise, don't you think?

Any that came to the SA gathering/weekend will understand its a tad hard to stop the boule when coming back down the hills behind our campsite.

We are currently travelling around Australia with our 2 sons aged 10 & 8 so we always have a footy, cricket set and totem tennis. Thinking of adding a bocce set to our activities before we set of on the next leg of our journey.
