Gday,

I read in a 4wd mag that Toyota have reduced their genuine replacement engine prices by up to 44%. I currently have a 98 hilux with a 5L diesel with 200k on the clock and have been considering putting a turbo on it. Their is nothing wrong with my current engine good compression, no smoke, good economy uses bugger all oil etc. I am just lusting for a little more power. The hilux was a company vehicle which never left the bitumen and I know the bloke who drove it the last few years so I have no worries about the drivetrain diffs etc.

Anyway to the questions: Does anyone know what sort of hassle is involved in fitting a 1KZTE motor to replace the 5L?
Do I need to buy other bits and pieces or does the 1KZTE motor come with the turbo and all associated bits?
How much would it be worth given toyata's reduced costing?
What sort of $$ should I be able to get for my 5L second hand??
Where can I buy the 1KZTE in Melbourne and is their anyone good on the Mornington Peninsula who could do the job??

any help or advice much appreciated.

Is this a frivolous / pointless idea??
