Hi
I am planning a trip along the coast from
Gladstone to the
Townsville Cairns Atherton Tablelands area in May and would be interested to hear what are considered "must see" sights for this area. I hope to
check out a few national parks along the way.
Thanks in advance

Kc,
research these if you have a 4wd.
Mt
Morgan- south/west of Rocky.
St Lawrence, turn left off the highway and go over the range to the old Sarina/ Marlborough Rd and onto Mackay
Eungella- west of Mackay. Go up the old logging track. Turn left at
Pinnacle towards Septimus. You may need local knowledge to find
the entrance road.
At
Eungella, turn down Diggings road to Broken River.
Burdikin
dam, go up from
Ayr to
Ravenswood then onto the
dam.
Wallaman Falls, south west of
Ingham. Longest drop in Australia.
Cardwell/
Lucinda, take a trip over to Hinchinbrook island.
Cardwell/ Kennedy, turn left at Kennedy and up to Blenco falls, then if you want to go on to Mt Garnet and onto
Cairns that way.
Mt Mulligan, west of
Mareeba, site if Australias worst
mine disaster.
There are many more, these are just some.
Have a good trip

Paluma / Hidden Valley .... NthWest of T'ville ( bit yuppified these days tho.)
and west of there to the Lynd.
Various loops can be done to the NthEast to get back to the Bruce Highway or down to Charters Towers.

If you have kids under the teenage yrs, the free water park on the Strand in
Townsville is a must see and do when up that way. Kids love it.
