I was looking round the net for more info on the injectors in the new V8 70 series.
This was from the 'OZ ATV' site.

the biggest problem with the injectors on the v8's is the filtration of the fuel toyota filters don't filter the fuel fine enough apparently they have 15 micron filter the injectors and the pump have very close tolerances and need super clean fuel every toyota sold from my local dealer have an optional aftermarket fuel filter the filter is a 5 micron finer filter fitted before the factory fitted fuel filter.

the fuel filter is fine but yes the systems are desined on european diesel which is much cleaner which means if your smart you change the fuel filter every 20000kms but a finner fuel filter would help but i would put it after the stock fuel filter so the firls ones get the larger particles then the finer one cleans out the rest.

if you fit the finer filter after the factory toyota filter you will void all warranty on the fuel system they want to keep there filter as a last resort
i know it sounds stupid putting a fine filter before a coarse filter
12 months ago we had the engineers that designed the engine at the toyota dealer here inspecting failed part to see where they were having problems since then the have upgraded the injectors on both the landcruiser and the hilux they have also remapped the injector drivers.
Looks like I will be finding an extra fuel filter to add to my system.
I love online forums - we ordinary folks can learn so much more.

I would
check with Toyota locally first. My understanding is that anything that presents a flow restriction and reduces the volume of fuel circulated will cause warranty issues.

From the
forum chatter I found it seems some toyota dealerships are offering a second fuel filter on purchase of a new car. Seems even the toyota dealerships know this is an issue and don't seem to find problems with adding fuel filter.

Why is there supposedly such issues with the V8 Injectors and not with the previous TD6 injectors??
What's changed between the two??

G'Day
John,
Because the new V8 is a common rail system & the 'older' TD6 is a mechainical injection system.
