problems with setup satellite tv for caravan

Hi there
We have a satellite tv set up (optus C1) that we are using to travel around Australia with. We used it the first 5 months on the road but haven't used it for about 5 months now. We are having problems getting it set up. Does anyone know if anything has changed with this. Someone told us they had been informed the LMB has changed! We have tried rebooting card - nothing, Any help appreciated.
Cheers

Hi, had similar problems some time ago - needed to send the card back to supplier for reprogramming.
This happens fairly regularly, and now we just don't bother using it.

Do you get a message on the screen that the program is scrambled?

cheers

Gooday,
Havee had this happen a number of times, they seem to send update codes out on a regular basis and if you are not connected your Box of Brains doesen't get them. If you leave it switched on pointed at the Stellite as if you are usng it and also leave your TV on you will most likely find it will come back on, may take up to 24 hours. It seems it takes the Brain Box up to that long to get all the info & digest it.
Cheers,
Boroma 604.

Fastest way is to ring Optus and get them to send a signal to wake it up.

This happens if you havent used it for more than a couple of weeks

If you get " scrambled channel" leave it for a couple of hours and see if it comes back on

If not ring Optus

kostacaff, if your dish is correctly aligned, you have all of the cables connected correctly, no one has played with any of the settings of the receiver and you have your card in place, you should at least be able to receive the tuning channel - usually channel 1 and often named INFO 156(degree)E if you cannot see that channel then I'm afraid you have a problem. You haven't stated what type of card you are using. Is it an authentic Optus card? If it is, as others have suggested you will have to contact them to have specific areas (channels) activated. If you are using a gold card (pirate card) you may need to go back to the source of supply and have it checked. I would be inclined to make sure that everything is correctly tuned, cabled etc and take it from there. Don't forget to check that the LNB hasn't rotated in its cradle. If it has, that may be a contributing factor to your problem. You may also need to re-scan the channels on your receiver. If when doing so no channels appear after scanning then you have an alignment/tuning problem. Sometimes it can take hours for the receiver to make connection with the satellite if it hasn't been activated for a while. Good luck.
