I recently purchased a 100 series diesel Turbo in very good condition. It is fitted with an air unifilter. I,m considering fitting additional oil and fuel filters and would be interested in recommendations comments.
Also how can I
check to see a chip has been fitted?
Any recommendations on chips welcome too.
Thx

I would remove the Unifilter and run nothing but Genunine filters for Air, Fuel and Oil.
The Safari Chip has some good reports.
Cheers Kev

Ditto for the Unifilter, the original genuine filter has many many times the surface area of the unifilter, which give far better filtration over an extended period.
Genuine filters cost a little extra, but the feeling of security you get knowing that they are there & doing the right job warrants the extra expense.
Remove the glove box (about 8 screws) & you will see if your vehicle has been 'chipped'.
Safari DP chip gets my vote, extra tourqe for towing, no noticable (or worth talking about) saving on fuel.
CU down the road.

I have a 100ser 2005TD with a Safari Chip.
If you do it you will need to get a 3" mandrel exhaust to get the full benefit out of it
As said ditch the filter The 100 ser air filter is known as the best ever fitted and apparently is better than the 200 ser one.
Only use genuine and you dont need extra ones.
There is a thread on LCool on how to enlarge the intake when fitting a
Snorkel
Have done
mine also Takes the pipe from about 60mm to 90mm.
As far as performance goes it certainly goes better doesnt blow black smoke under hard acceleration like it did before.
Fuel consumption hasnt changed to pre chip at all over 65,000k the chip has been in.

Ditto what Graham said.
I have 2005 T/D Cruiser with Safari HO kit which comprises chip, 3 inch exhaust and a larger intercooler. Tow 3400KG van no problem and vehicle pulls like a train!!! I did modify my fuel filter and fitted an which takes a Delphi 296 filter which is same micron as genuine Toyota filter. However the Delphi filter costs around $7 compared to $67.65 for the genuine filter. At each service I just provide a new Delphi filter to Toyota dealer and save myself about$60.
Regards
Gary.

Thanks Guys,
I will revert air filter back to genuine and leave oil filter as genue as
well while looking at the Delphi for fuel. Will
check behind glover box for chip. I already have a safari
snorkel fitted so not much I can do there. Sounds like if no chip fitted I will need a 3" mandrel exhaust exhaust as
well?
What sort of cost could I be looking at for safari Chip and 3" mandrel exhaust ?

About $2500 plus $250 for an EGT gauge
I got my chip new for $900 on Ebay The ehaust was $1000 fitted and dynoed
AMMS in Sandgate in Brissy sell Unichips I think which they can tune on the dyno
Look on their website
EGT Exhaust Gas Temperature a very handy bit of kit because you wouldnt believe how hot it can get towing
Also learn to tow in 4th it runs cooler than in 5th
