Hi all,

I just replaced the axle seals in the front of the 80 series and found a good way of aligning the splined end of the shaft with the diff splined hole. This is for the LHS front axle.
On top of the axle housing on the LHS is a bolted on fitting for the brake line. It is just bolted on to hold it steady. Remove the bolt leaving the threaded hole clear. Use a piece of coathanger wire and make a hook that can be wriggled into the hole to support/lift the shaft and align it with the diff as you push it in. Once it is in the wire can be lowered, rotated 90 degrees and removed. Replace bolt.
Simple trick the took just 20 seconds to locate the axle.
If others have a different method I would like to hear it.
Ian
