Have logged on at 0700 every day since Jesse left port (after her first
test drive;-) and like so many others, have been constantly in amazement at not only her ability, which has no doubt, been honed to a keen edge, when suddenly she is the cheif
cook, bottle washer, medic, radio operator, navigator, rigger, deck swabber, scribe, photographer, videographer, fix it guy, P.R. guy, fisherwoman etc. Together with her amazing base wallers, she handled everything which was thrown at her. Going back to my adventures / mis-adventures in my ten years all up regular army plus four years parachuting/skydiving, one comes to know one's self only when faced with major challenges, be they of a life threatening type or just plain physical endurance (sometimes they are combined). Lucky for us, fear is factored in to our mental systems, which kicks in, rather like
the governor on a diesel, just when the extra power is needed. This adrenalin rush is only doled out to us fortunate few (although we don't always feel fortunate at the time) as we venture down life's gazetted highways. When we emerge on the other side, we are never the same person. Our confidence and trust in ourselves gets a major 'hit' which will, in the ratchet of life, put us
well forward of where we seem happy to
wallow. Many of us work on the slogan that says " No one can make me feel inferior, without my permission " "Over & out" !
