There are Trek notes on the site Warren. I did it some time back and here is a link to my blog.

Hi Warren

We have been down it many times, its become a habit to do it as a 4 hour detour on our way home after visiting Simpson etc.

It has several sections , the north section above Murrayville is sort off not very exciting just a rough track , then you move into the middle section off which the lower part is one way , this has a few interesting sections , some of which are challeneges , but not as much as winter approaches and the sand is harder.

Was more fun on my bike last time than the car , but we did find one hill a Navara with us had trouble on.

Then there is the bottom section (below the one way section) , this still has a few sandhills but towards the bottom of this bottom section there are some muddy patches and small bogholes.

Plenty of tree roots ready to wack the tyres , in general it is more tricky , with bigger hills than the little dessert and there are chopped up sections as well.
