g'day all,
I am looking at mounting a tv on a wall bracket in my van, and i just wanted to know if there is much difference between a so called caravan tv and your average store bought tv ?, I know caravan tv's come with a 12 volt option and higher price tag, but are they made tougher to handle the vibration of road travel or will a normal tv cope. Thanks in advance for any ideas.
Cheers
John.

A word of advice If you are fitting a wall bracket yourself
Bolt it right through the wall with a steel plate behing it to spread the load.
Dont travel with your TV on it.
M D F is not known for its screw holding ability if weight is put apon them constantly. Any TV up to 19 in would do as most run off a stepdown tranny anyway.
Just make sure you buy the TV then figure out how and where to fit it.
Otherwise it just may not fit above a shelf or whatever.

thanks graham,
i was thinking of using the side of a cupboard, i am going to reinforce it with a larger piece of 9 mm ply from the inside, the bracket i am looking at using is rated to hold 25kg ,and the tv i am looking at is 5.5 kg a bit of overkill i know but i thought that might make it safer for travelling in place.
cheers
John.

I used 3mm steel which is stronger and takes up less room
I wouldnt recommend tavelling with it on the bracket other than if you can put a couple of inches of foam under it on a shelf. We did that and had no trouble but cant in our new van so put it on bed.
A friend had theirs just sitting on a bare shelf an it shook to pieces on the Plenty one day.
There is a piece you can buy like the V shaped old bottle top openers that attaches to the end of the bracket and the another bit attaches to the tv which just slides down into it and removes instantly.

Dont know but ive got a spare but it fits 75mm apart holes in the TV
Caravans Plus or Coast to Coast have them I think
Most TV's have 100mm apart holes
Let me know if I can help

Not too clear but the right hand bit which fixes to the TV slides down into the other bit and holds TV in place
