I have a 03 100 series that has a shudder while accelerating and when I back off.

When I back off and put my foot on the clutch, the shudder goes away, I have booked it in for a new clutch and a fly wheel shave.

Does anyone have any other ideas??

Thanks In advance.

As a mechanic I have come across this problem before and you could be on the right track , but i would be checking the uni joints first, could save a few dollars.

Too much grease can cause this too. It can stop it moving quick enough with the change in power......

Why not say its a 105 in the 1st place? Different drive train to a 100 series.

Thanks for your very informative reply Ross.

Next time I ask a question on here I will take more care with the info I give, by the way Ross I know the drive train may be slightly different, but they still have a clutch and 2 tail shafts, this is more than likely were the problem lies.

To all those who tried to help Thanks.

The vehicles are entirely different even though they share some cosmetic similarities.
One is IFS for starters.
You could tell us you own a Pajero based on your arguement.

Hey Ross

I have owned every model cruiser since 1975, this is why am 99.9% sure of the problem, it is getting a new clutch and flywheel shave tomorrow.

I have never come across this problem before in a 100 series, this is why I asked the question, by the way the 100 series models include the 100 series Standard wagon a 100 series GXL wagon and a 100 series TD wagon, that is why they call it the 100 series, I have owned at least 1 of each, trust me none off what I posted above looks remotely like a friggen Pajero.

Since you have not given me a probable cause or a possible solution to the above problem, I suggest you know sweet FA about Landcruisers, so stop wasting yours and my time with BS.

100 series = new (in 98)model with IFS
105 series = 80 series with updated body

If you thought "03" and "GXL" were relevant to your post, why not include "105" which is the correct series.

Im on my 4th landcruiser and fix my driveline without the internets or telling people I own a more expensive model than I really do.

Friggen Pajeros have 2 driveshafts,a gearbox and a clutch which is all it needs to be called a 100 series by your reckoning.

Oh,and by the way you need a clutch with a stronger spring. The weakly sprung 250mm stock clutch is well known for this problem in a 105.
AFAIK ,the 100 series with the 300mm clutch doesnt have this problem.

Hi Bushy, just another thought, check your engine mounts and gearbox mounts.

Similar thing happened to me about 20 odd years ago and that proved to be the problem. It was a falcon then, but you never know.

I am a great subscriber of the KISS principal.

Gday again 3GoBush.

Please clarify.

What gear?
What Revs?
What speed?
Turning or straight?
Under hard or gentle acceleration?
Under hard or gentle deceleration?
