On our last trip came across a WA vanner with a Stove/Heater made out of a 9Kg gas bottle the bottle was horizontal with 4 legs, front and top openings with door/plate for wood and a chimmney. It was called an Ozzie Pig of something like it

Have also seen similar setups with the 9Kg bottle vertical. Would like to know the alternatives available and suppliers.

Would like to mount one on the A frame when travelling.

I know there are plans availabe to make your own but........

Thanks

Peter

Hi Peter

Allways in an arms race with my brother over effective systems , his latest is homemade similar to ozpig , but packs up better and is less cumbersome , mainly because it uses a flat sealed plate on it so it doesn't protrude and has protection bits as a problem with this system is it gets seriously hot and easy for kids to bump into as no visible flame.
Also chimmey is offset slightly so that unit can sit under edge of an awning while working and not get directly rained on,

His and I think Ozpig are also designed so that the complete chimmey and small amount of fuel fit inside it.

I always win the packing up competition though because the damm thing takes forever to cool down.

Overall great piece of gear - and recently at Port Germain they have banned small campfires in CV park - almost at walk out point but people running it let him use his pig equivalent.
