Sad new today with the death of bush legend RM Williams. Got to admire a bloke who was once a swaggy and yet managed to achieve so much in his life. Oh yeah, and was also instrumental in getting the Stockmans Hall of Fame off the ground. RIP RM.

It's a shame all the gear you buy in this day and age doesn't last like his products. Never mind, you can't say the old fella didn't have a good innings. His legacy will live on for generations. RIP R.M.

I heard an interview made with him today. He reckons that he was a 'bagman' not a swagman... because he always had a few horses and saddlepacks to travel between jobs. Different world back then. They had 4wd horses. Royce www.funshow.com.au

G'day Ian,
I'm not sure if anyone has written a biography on RM, though there is a chapter on him in "Legends of the Outback" by Marie Mahood..
A couple (of books) that I know about which were written by RM are
"I Once Met a Man", "Beneath Whose Hand", & "Saddle for a Throne",
.. The latter I believe, being the complete works of Scottish poet Will Ogilvie... (There may be others that I'm not aware of)...
He was also for many years editor of "Hoofs & Horns" magazine (Founding editor if I'm not mistaken), and was instrumental in forming the Australian Rough Riders' Association (ARRA)...
All in all, a truly remarkable man...

Regards,
Ed. C.

PS, Have you read any (or all) of Len Beadells' books ?
If you haven't, I highly recommend them.. Highly entertaining, as well as informative.. Ed.
