G'day John, thought I'd drop in seeing you havent pulled a crowd on this one.
I have no direct experience with this lot, but specs look very similar to Honda
at the 2KVA level. Jap designed...fine, but built where??. Noise, weight, features
look OK. Following extensive research I went for the Honda 2oi, & picked one up for $1800. What money are they asking ?. I note a 10% discount for EO members.
It may be unlikely that anyone has owned one long enough to have much idea
of reliability. I think if you may rely seriously on your gennie..go for the proven
brands, if for casual non essential use..maybe the cheaper ones will do.
cheers...oldbaz.

Thanks for you your reply, very much appreciated,They were asking soemthing like $1150 but with the 10% discount somewhere around $1035
What impressed me was the two year guarentee, not to be sneezed at I'm sure you will agree
I have had some feed back from them this morning to question I had aske them so I will try and copy and paste it into this email.
In my naiveity My thinking was I could charge my 200ah battery directly from the gennie.
We do a lot of Bushcamping and I have solar panels for the good days but was sort of thinking of having an each way bet to cover the inclement we occasionally have here in S.A.
Thanks for taking the time to reply.
If you rather contact me direct you can use my email address; jrwhill@twpo.com.au

Hi,
Can you please answer the following questions.
Can I boost the dual batteries in my vehicle (200 amp hour) directly from the generator itself or do I have to use a battery charger via the 240 volt system?

A: We strongly recommend the use of a 240v Smart Multi Stage Battery Charger, with the watts of the charger not exceeding the capacity of generator. Please ensure when charging your batteries to disconnect the original leads from the battery, fully loosen the battery fluid filler caps and check battery fluid level are adequate.

Are there any agents for your products in Adelaide?

A: There is no Sales Agents appointed in Adelaide at this point in time, but is on our radar to have agents appointed sometime this year. In regards to warranty repairs, we work on a system where you contact us with the details of the problem and a troubleshooting process is conducted by our qualified customer service team. If the problem needs to be elevated for a warranty repair, HTG will organise with a qualified repairer within your present traveling location to make the appropriate repairs whether it is a mechanical or electrical fault.

My needs for the generator are purely for the recharging of the batteries while we are bush camping.
We have Solar panels for sunny days which are quite adequate for our needs but it is the inclement days that have us worried.
All our lighting needs are all Led with minimum power draw.
Would the 8amp capability of your generator be adequate for the charging of our batteries.

A: John it sounds as if you have your power requirements set up correctly, The DC application on all inverter generators is only set up for emergency purposes only (jump starting ect), trying to charge a battery using the built in 12 volt charger is almost a waste of time, most of these are what is called an emergency charger, and are limited to 8 amps. We recommend recharging batteries with a 240v Smart Multi Stage Battery Charger

G'day John, that price seems good, if for a 2kva, if for a 1kva I think I would
lean to the Honda or Yammie. It is not adviseable to charge straight from the gennie, particularly to a large deep cycle battery. I bought a Ctek 15 amp smart
charger & find it excellent. While I dont have battery storage on my C/t I have
several low use vehicles & it is ideal to keep them ready to go. I have also
rejuvenated several old batteries that would no longer hold a charge by the use
of the Ctek program. A bit dear at $280 (ebay) but has repaid that already.
Can be left on indefinately with no ill effect. cheers.....oldbaz.

Thanks a million Oldbaz for all your input to my request for information re generators.
We are new members to explor oz and are already questioning our reasoning why we haven't joined before.
We downsized now from a 6 metre caravan when we were on the road full time to a camper trailer.
These days we do a lot of bush camping with the camper which we enjoy immensely.
Our age is now the only barrier to preclude us from continuing with our travels although hopefully that is a long way down the track.
King regards to you both
John
Ps Hope you wont be affected by the storms heading your way

Hi John I can’t help you with the EH 1000, but for your info I bought an EH 3000, quality is better than what I expected and all specifications as described by HTG. I have had it for about 3mths now and have been using it to power my weekender and have used it consistently for the past 2 weeks over the xmas break without any problems. I personally can’t fault its performance; the noise level for the EH 3000 is rated at 56db and is impressively quiet for this size unit. Hope this helps!

Thanks for taking the time to write its good to see someone is happy with their purchase.
In my dealing with HTG they have been excellent and have answered all the questions I have put before them.
My intention was to have the gennie purely as a backup for the Solar panels. It seems no matter where they are placed you can always hear them.
I had loke at a Yamaha gennie which was exceptionally quiet so I think now, I will wait utnil the Caravan and Camping show and do some more investigation then.
HTG told me they didn't have an agent here in Adelaide as yet.
