Thanks for that info we won't be stopping there for anything, and i hope they read this to . I don't mind helping the remote towns but that is just greed.

Similar thing between Lyndhurst and Marree.
Lyndhurst was $1.37....Marree $1.79. Only 80kms between the two towns.

Plenty of similar examples..eg the servo in Wilcannia. My local town is on $139c
..can buy in Goulburn, 30 k away for $1.10. I know the local servo owners & they
say they cant buy it for $1.10. I just cant be bothered with the fuel price thing anymore..if I need it I buy it, but admit to dodging known rip off sites.....oldbaz.

Maybe you just passed between the two whilst the price was being upped.

Last Tuesday (04th) petrol was around the $1.10-15 mark here in Geelong, get up Wednesday and it's around $1.40, bloody thieves.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. If people ever want to do anything about it, don't have a day where no one buys fuel. Have everyone that is able to, boycott one of the big multinationals. Keep doing it until it hurts and then tell the rest they'll cop it if they don't pull their heads in and stop being greedy.

Whether or not this is feesible in a market that is as small as what Australia is in the grand scheme of things is another thing all together..

Bribie Island is another good example and not far out of town either.

Diesel is anything up to 10 cents a L dearer than Caboolture which is only 18 mins away.

I never buy fuel on the island for that reason.

Interesting - I just searched Fuelwatch, and Payne's Find isn't there. And quite a few others in the country aren't there.
What criteria allows some servos to avoid the compulsory daily reporting of fuel prices in WA?
Gerry

Try searching for Nanutarra and see if there is a result.

Hi Gerry,

The answer is here:

PETROLEUM PRODUCTS PRICING REGULATIONS 2000 - REG 4
4 . Price changes in certain places need not be notified

(1) Regulation 3(1) does not apply to a place that —

(a) is outside the Perth metropolitan region, as defined in subregulation (2); and

(b) is not in a local government district or townsite listed in Schedule 1.

(2) In this regulation —

Perth metropolitan region means the region described in the Planning and Development Act 2005 Schedule 3;

townsite means an area that, under the Land Administration Act 1997 , has been or is to be treated as having been constituted a townsite.

[Regulation 4 amended in Gazette 23 Aug 2001 p. 4381; 12 Aug 2008 p. 3536.]

The link to the reg HERE

Where are the servo's 80k's either side of Payne's Find? I can only find Mt Magnet and Wubin, each of which is approx 150k's away. I don't begrudge people making a living. If they are prepared to live and work in those remote locations they are entitled to make a profit. They are certainly not going to have the turnover of dealers in larger communities. If they worked on the same margins as larger dealers they would be out of business in no time. That being the case where would you get fuel in an emergency. You don't see any Rolls Royces parked out the back of these remote servo's. Do you really think if a guy was a ripoff merchant he would base himself in a place like Paynes Find?
