here is a dummy question, how do i save my
places to a usb or similar so I can load them on another computer.

Hi
Left click mouse on the name of the "places" you want to save (listig on left of screen) to highlight it then right click mouse and select "Save
Places as". Fiile is saved as KMZ and can be opened on other PCs.
