Recently I've had trouble with my GQ 2.8td starting. About 12 months ago I have all the plugs renewed. It's definately not as bad as when 3 of the 6 plugs were buggered.
sometimes after starting and driving the glow plug light on the dash board flashes.

Anyone experienced this before and where should I start my fault finding? Would it be the glow plug relay they runs thru next to the battery?

Cheers,

Possibly start at the relay, but i would also look at the wiring to the dash light. Could be rubbed out somewhere creating a short.

My GQ2.8TD, is also having a little trouble starting as of late. Seems to be a little slow and sluggish when starting. I put a battery charger on it one night before I went away. The following morning it started instantly. To me it sounds like I should start looking for a new battery. Your may be a similar problem.

A battery is only expected to last (depending on brand) a year or two.

yep good point. It's not brilliant but I did put it on charge for a good 24hrs thru a smart charger. That's not to say it has brought it back to 'as good as new'.
I might put the charger on it tonight and while it's on turn the engine over and see if the problem goes away.
I don't drive the car much around town so it can sit there for weeks without being driven which doesn't help the batteries.

Cheers,

I've heard of people blowing their chargers up if starting vehicle while it's connected. Power surges I'm guessing.

yep good point (though it should be safe). I can get my hands on a load tester on Thurs night so I'll use that to test the battery instead.
