WATER PROOFING PETROL ENGINES? What have you done to yours??

G'day all, what have you done to your petrol engine to make it splashproof/waterproof for those river crossings? did it work? how well! Hoo roo

Basically a snorkel, and some wd40 or similar on the dizzy, if coil packs nothing really and I've had petrol cruisers with water 4" up the windscreen and no snorkle or blind (still water only). Most modern petrols are as waterproof as the diesels (up to dash level anyway) But modern diesels have the same electrics now anyway.
Still I would rather get a gut full of water in a petty and still drive home than in a diesel and be up for tens of thousands.

G'day all, when I do a water crossing I carry a length of motorbike tube & slip it over the end of the exhaust pipe with a few of it's rubber bands to keep it on, it really works well ( sounds strange!) if you stop water can't get back up the tube into the exhaust pipe. A cheap 'n easy safeguard in case you stall. I've used it as long as I have been offroading without ever a problem.... hoo rooo
