Hi all,Need the experts help. I bought the Oziexplorer package from the shop. I have loaded Ozi on the computer successfully but when I try to load Natmap I get an error message saying "verify that you have access to that directory"
I have loaded Natmap on previous computers OK. I am running Windows 7. I have also loaded OK "Map Source" and Shonky maps.
Can anyone tell me what to do now.

Hi

Do other maps work in OziExplorer?

When you say you try to "Load Natmap" do you mean the 250K mosaic (or individual map sheets) within OziExplorer...or the Natmap viewing program?

If you are trying to load the actual 250K map where is the actual file - on the PC in a folder or are you loading for the original Natmap disc?

Do you have an OziExplorer calibration file associated with the 250K map (ie *.map file).

Have you updated OziExplorer to the latest version (3.95.5k) - the one on the disc may be much older.

The fact that you have Mapsource and Shonkymaps loaded and running Ok is irrelevant to any issues you are having with OziExplorer.

Cheers

G'day Damien

I had a similar problem with the exact same products on Windoze 7. All went well on XP, but loading Natmaps wouldn't happen on my laptop with Win7. Turned out to be the 'Natmap Viewer' that I didn't need anyway, wasn't compatible with Win 7. I just loaded the maps themselves, not the viewer, and used Ozi as my viewer. Maybe this is your problem too.

Good luck, Dave

From Geoscience webpage
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Problem doing a full install of NATMAP Digital Maps onto PC with Windows 7

Some users have experienced problems undertaking the ‘Full Install’ option (which loads all maps onto the users own PC) in Windows 7 operating system.

NATMAP software was originally built to run on the Windows Operating System (Windows XP) that existed at the time the product was developed. However, subsequent releases of operating systems occasionally create problems for the operation of existing products. The following solution should allow users to fully install map files onto a PC. The solution is to mimic a minimal (called ‘Typical’ in the product) install, use the product’s Map Manager program to then copy the map files to the PC.

Procedure:

1. remove all previous or attempted installs
2. install the software to run from the DVD or CD only (use Typical install option - this will load the minimum data onto the PC). This creates the directory structure on the PC and the maps can then be copied from the disks to the relevant locations
3. when files have been copied to the new file structure on PC (Step 2), access the Map Manager program via Start> Programs> NATMAP Raster. This program allows you to configure the NATMAP Raster program to then access the files from the PC hard disk.

If Map Manager asks to locate the mapdata.txt file (this file points the program to the new location for the maps), you will find this file in the directory above each map image file. Select mapdata.txt and then enter.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

....though as suggested probably just as easy to just copy map images (*.ecw) and then import into OziExplorer.

Cheers

Windows 7 locks some directories from some programs.

put the maps in a folder in c:
and point ozi's directory of maps to there.

That should work.

Thanks Greg, Dave and Boobook, That gives me something to work on. I wll try each one and see what happens.
If not I do have other maps already loaded and will use them via the GPS.

Thanks again all, Damien
