Ducky
Hey all. First post
I own an '03 commodore wagon. I want to put a waeco 50l fridge in the back for work purposes.
I have a baby on the way so space is limited when you combine all the associated gear. A fridge and my toolbag (sparky) so battery in the rear is not something I want to consider
I'm looking at doing a dual optima yellow top setup. Preferably under the bonnet. I have read up but haven't found anyone who has put 2 batteries under then bonnet. So now I'm asking you
Cheers in advance

Hi Ducky, If you can find the space there is no reason to not put the second battery under the bonnet. Connect the second battery to the alternator via an isolator solenoid such as a Redarc to avoid discharging the cranking battery.
The Optima Yellow Top is a good battery but being an AGM type does not like heat so be careful about positioning.
You speak of a "dual Optima setup" but I hope you do not mean two Optima Yellow Tops as they are AGM deep-cycle and not suitable as a cranking battery.
(P.S. I feel really awkward saying "Hi Ducky" if you know what I mean! LOL)

Allan, You would think all people would at least add their first name for convenience, Michael

I'm used to forums where you go by an alias rather then your real name. Yes it is michael but everyone knows me as ducky.
Either way thanks for the reply. I am new to this obviously and it's great to know I don't require 2 yellow tops as they aren't exactly cheap.
I am hoping someone has or knows of someone who has put an underbonnet dual battery in a vt vx or vy commodore as they are all the same engine bay in
sedan ute or wagon.
