That is correct! The rubber bushes are maintenance free. The poly bushes only last when properly and regularly greased which requires regreasable shackels

If sticking with rubber spring bushes only use Genuine Toyota ones, I never found any of the aftermarket ones to last anywhere near as long.
Don't fit poly bushes unless fitting greasable pins and be prepared to grease them constantly. Poly bushes also give a harder ride regardless. I've tried most of the different combinations in 30 odd years with half a dozen troopies and always came back to genuine rubber bushes, they usually last 100k unless you play in the mud every day.

yup, spot on there, i have tried all sorts and will now only fit original rubber bushes......
Also a trick is to fit the bushes but do not tighten them untill you have lowered it off the jack/s and rock it a few times to settle it to the bushes 'working" position, then tighten them all up, the bushes are locked in place and dont slide like "poly" bushes when tightened up......
The reason .... if you tighten them up whilst jacked up they lock up in place and when you lower them down the bolts do about 1/4 of a turn while the outside remains fixed and it can tear out the centers of the rubbers in a short time, i also give then a small wipe with palmolive detergent before pushing them in to help them set in the right spot but they lock in place very quickly..
in short ALL after market options are crud and not worth it (bushes i mean) ...
