Hi
Has anyone recently (very recently) crossed the Howqua River on the Sixteen Mile Jeep Track, and if so how deep was it?
I have just spoken to DSE up there and they say it could be quite deep at the moment and we wist to get from the Bluff to Craigs Hut by that track.
Thanks in advance

Ian the Howqua River crossing at Bindaree Flat has been up of late but not that deep to cause issues. My Dad crossed there about a week ago without a snorkel on his 80 series & to my knowledge there hasn't been any substantial rain in the area since. Forecast is good for this weekend but more rain due for the following one may push the river up again. As you are probably aware the alternative crossing on Bluff link is currently closed.
Cheers Craig..................

Be aware as well that the recent heavy rains have caused tree falls and landslips throughout the mountains so checking for road closures is wise as is taking a big chain saw.

Hiya Ian

I was at the Hut a couple of weeks ago,a lot of water about on the roads, some could not handle the drainage and started going down the roads, they hav done a bit of work on Circuit Rd and the rivers are running strong...A farmer i met on the way back from Telephone Box Junction was going to winch his mate outa the King River...

It may hav backed off over the last couple of weeks but youll see in my video.

Goodluck

Swaggie

Thanks for that - I am glad I did not see that before we left or I would have been worried!
The crossing was real easy on Sunday, so it has dropped a lot since then - a few puddles on the road after the crossing but otherwise no drama at all.
We had a great weekend, perfect weather and as usual superb scenery.

No worries Ian

A lot of tracks and rivers change so quickly lately so you need to go on a week to week basis...Coming in to Bindaree the puddles where very large...

Cheers
