Hi All,
I know it is nearly impossible to answer.
We will be in the Bungles at the start of the second week of May then onto
Broome via Tunnel Ck etc, 5 days in
Broome and
Cape leveque then the GRR and
Mitchell Plateau.
The end of May in
Litchfield and across to Borrolloola via the Savanah Way.
What are your gut feelings on how quickly the roads will open?

2nd week of May you will face plenty of roads not yet fixed..
They may have dried out by then but the road workers need to have the time to grade and fill them.
When some roads flood and especially this year because of the extra water,,, the roads just get washed away,,, not just flooded...
The roadworks is a huge task in some
places...
Last year, or the year before (i cannot remember now), there was earth moving equipment bogged in certain areas because they tried fixing the roads too soon.
So if you wanna see everything,,,,, dont go in may this year..

Nah, just because they arent graded dont mean they arent open or accesible. The roads will be open by then, maybe not in the best condition yet but many will be ok. There has been a fair amount of rain, but you will be amazed how quickly this water can dry up. Where is the sense of adventure though, its alot more fun and memorable to see it after the big rains.
The best time to see the
Kimberley anyway is during the wet. If you havent seen it, then you havent seen the Real
Kimberley.

Thanks for the replies,
I'm not worried if the roads are rough we can handle that and water over 1m will be ok too.
Might delay by 2 weeks and see what happens if it keeps raining beyond this week.
