Does anyone own a Makocraft Estuary tracker 380?? If so what is it like? These are my two choices for a tinny to go around Australia with on top of the landcruiser. I have heard alot about the quintrex explorer 390, but don't know much about the Makocraft. I know it is made by the Stessl family, is a little shorter than the explorer, has slightly deeper sides than explorer, has side pockets, and believe the Makocraft has 2mm floor (quintrex 1.6mm). With this the Makocraft weighs 9kg more than the explorer. Both boats have a beam of 1.8mtr which will just suit the custom boat loader. I think this is also good for stablilty especially when taking out wife and 2 kids. Any info would be great on either boats. Cheers. John

If they are both new, would do a bit of research into Mako Craft, Makocraft and Stessels etc, lots of interesting information on the net available, especially on various fishing sites. Myself have a Quintrex Explorer Trophy 390, it is a great boat, the trophy is fitted out a lot more, but have had 8 boats over the years and absolutely love it.

Might be worth searching the net for stories on modern day quintrex too .....

Way back when brands like brooker/clark/dehavilland were around .... The real Quintrex was # 1.

Now its just like any brand name gobbled up by a profit seeking company capitalising on past reputations.

My ol 4.3m fishabout will probably outlast any of the new "quintrex" boats.
