Have a look at the Recall list here :)

They usually place a sticker with the recall code on the door jamb on the drivers door.

This is a national recall ( not effected by warranties ) on the mounting brackets for all 120 Prados with Toyota aluminum Sovereign Bullbars. You will need to contact your local Toyota Dealer to book it in to get sorted. They will remove the bullbar and mounting brackets, and then re-install it with much more substantial brackets. I've had mine done and it significantly reduces the bullbar.

Hi sco230618,
Check your mounting bolts regularly as I lost nearly all mine on a dirt road out from Marble Bar. Not fun lying in the red dirt tying up bits.
Replacement bolts from a supplier (and nyloc nuts) were $6.00 or $80 from Toyota.

Hi

I am not sure about a factory recall, but Toyota are well aware of the problem, and it is a big one at that. But being fair for Toyota, it is not their fault, but the Queensland manufacturer that made the bars for Toyota, who Toyota have given the flick. ARB have a multi million dollar contract to engineer and build replacement brackets.

The original brackets were nothing but a joke, as you will see from my pictures below. I lost my bar completely and made my thoughts known to Toyota what I thought. There were no second questions about giving me a complete new bar, but in the mean time I purchased an ARB bar that will last the distance.

Every person that I have spoken to that takes there 120 Series on any type of rough road have all suffered broken and cracked brackets. The bar movement while on the road is correct and has nothing to do with broken or cracked brackets.

I have spoken also to other 120 series owner and they say there is nothing wrong and was only the way that I drive my vehicle, which I replied that I use my vehicle for what it was made for and not a bitumen show pony and they have their head buried in the sand.

Here is the proof.....

Do not let any service person tell you there is nothing to worry about, just show them this post.

Cheers

Our recall letter arrived in the mail last week. Just go to the nearest Toyota dealer for more information.

Received my recall letter last week. Went to local Toyota dealer where I bought the Prado and was told that it can't be done until July. At least she had a smile on her face when she told me.

Greg - to which you presumably replied - "Okay maam, as long as you are prepared to pay for any damage done between now and then. By the way I'm travelling the Gunbarrel corrugations in April."

Na Bazooka. Her little brain would've gone into melt down. I have a parking light that works on & off done under warranty now for two years. It will be "fixed" on Wed. I asked while they have the bull bar off to be fixed, surely they could do the light. Different job she says.

I have a '03 Turbo diesel Prado with a factory aluminium bullbar. How can I tell whether this is the type subject to the recall ??

Does anyone have a photo of one of the suspect bull bars?
