I am thinking of organising a State Gathering next year in Queensland.

I am looking to hold it somewhere in the Longreach region (IsuzuMu is doing a recon trip this year for it) during either the Queensland Winter or Spring school holidays. Hopefully the opposite holiday period to the National Gathering.
It will probably be in the middle of the School holiday period ie Thursday to Tuesday.

Anyone have any thoughts on a place to hold it out that way let me know and I'll start planning it. Preferred holiday period would be good as well :)

Cheers Kev

Muttaburra is the geographical centre of QLD , ok the exact centre is 16 klm away from the pub as the crow flies , bulk free camping area known as the Broadwater 9klm from town ,, free showers available at town swimming pool all yr round.

Might be worth investigating.
The reason for it being held from a Thursday is so that people have time to travel there comfortably and have enough time to get home after the festivities :)

G/Day Kev

We will be going through Longreach in early May on our way up to WA & the NT, there is a fairly large free camping area near the Thomson River we are planning to stop there for a couple of days, Muttaburra sounds good also, maybe others might suggest some other places in the area, we will be away for 3 months, then we will be heading for Silverton later on, geez it's a bugger being semi retired.

Cheers

We will have the two weeks of the school hols off, so maybe do a tour type G/T and those who only have a short time can meet up where ever we are. Naturally have set destinations before we head off.
Maybe start in Isisford then Longreach Muttaburra and Barcaldine, there is so much to do out there we may need a month to do it hahahahaha.

Excuse me Oh Great One, I need to know if the following is permissible

(1) Can one get a visa to cross the border into Qld

(2) If so, who do we apply to, to get a ticket to this soiree.

(3) also do you get a refund if the venue is flooded, damaged by earthquake and/or giant tsunami, contaminated by coal mine dust. weather moves outside the 20-25c range, plagued by Ross River fever and/ or any other type of pestilence etc.

(4) Can you bring your dog as well.

Regards

DD

DD,

(1) As a Toyota driver you have a right of entry to "Gods Country" as you are driving the vehicle of choice ;)

(2) see reply to 1

(3) You seem to be flooding as often as QLD

(4) Dogs and Generators are welcome, I don't envisage any camping in National Parks ;)

Cheers Kev
