A Local Subaru , Mazda, Benz, Dealer in our area has now expanded!!. They are now agents and have full display range for;
Nissan
Benz
VW
Subaru
Mazda;
Dodge.
Jeep
All on the same premises, Two workshops, only.
Made me think ,If one of each brand suffered a problem in the same week, how many experienced mechanics have they on tap!..LOl.

probably sweet FA, they will rely heavily on the internet for backup from the manufactures and most times that will suffice, it is when they have a problem that hasn't been documented before, this is when the vehicle sits for weeks while they try everything to fix it.
Mates truck was off the road for 3 days while they tried to find out what was wrong with it "error codes and all" old fella mechanic says "have you checked for a small blockage in the fuel lines" guess what problem solved. Mean while truck is not turning a wheel and making money.
Have a good one and I guess get used to the world we live in.

The modern Mechanic diagnostic skills are only as good as the tool in his hand!!, Soon learnt this with my V8 petrol cruiser...LOL.

yes indeed it sad what is happening.
The world is closing in and the control of everything is the same, you will buy a product and they will service it, unless governments take a stand and force them to release information to 3rd parties. Otherwise you will be locked to the supplier and whatever they deem the correct rate of pay is for their
services.
If you live in a rural area you will be forced to take your machine to the authorised dealer or go take a jump. This has already happened with Toyota who have withdrawn support for local dealers.
The day your local "anything" disappears is a very sad and destructive day. I have said it before, go buy yourself a tilt tray and become a towie. I have been eyeing one off but I don't think they will give it to me (latest 430hp MAN twin steer tilt tray)

Hi Axle,
I have been a Service manager ( now retired thank you) for most of my working life and in my last job have been running one of the biggest Holden service departments in Queensland for 11 years. If the workshop is
well run you will find that some of the technicians will be specialized on certain aspects or makes and models. I had to send my guys to a minimum of 2 days technical training per year and of course new model realeases.
A lot of country dealers are multi franchised with a number of different makes for sales and service for survival unless
well established. We used to service about 130 cars a day with a staff of 50. I don't think that smaller dealers would be able to survive with only one franchise.
