Take delivery next week of our new off roader and having trouble getting an insurance provider..........as soon as it goes over $100k they all decline (exception of one ) ......and I have sort quotes from as many
well known Insurance co's that I am aware of
the exception is CIL who have given us a quote but I have nothing to compare it too to keep them honest........
so for those of you that have a 'van insured for over the $100 k figure who do you use?
Thanks

Spent all day yesterday getting quotes for renewal of a $72000 van.
May not help you but the agreed value quotes were.
Cheapest Affinity Brokers who have CGU as underwriters Less than $850
next Apia just over $900 We have house and Cruiser with them.
next NRMA around $925 We have a car with them.
then AAMI Just over $1000
CIL about $1040 Affinity asked them
Worst of all CGU themselves $1200+ and needed extras for some cover the others included.
Just tried them as a reference to Affinity's quote.
So there you are Dont know how you will go at 100k+ though

Gooday,
It is a minefield, the only other one I can suggest is MHIA, Manufactured Homes Insurance Agency, here is their free number 1800-676-700
They, like most of the names you see are a Broker, we have been with them for about 6 years, had a claim about 4 years ago for $700 were completely painless.
However after saying that they have gone through the roof with prices in the last couple of years, at least it will give you a comparison.
Cheers,

Hi Bungarra
While ours is no where near that value, I recommend using an Insurance Broker. They do the comparisons, and where you may be comparing on price (if you can get enough quotes at your value), they not only know where to look, but will have to knowledge to ensure that you are getting the cover to suit your needs - so no nasty surprises in the event of a claim. They can also get policies tailor made to suit your needs, whereas an individual is buying an off-the-shelf product. Brokers have buying power with companies they use a lot so may get a cheaper deal than doing it alone. They are there to fight for YOU in the event of a claim, whereas you are alone fighting a big corporation in the event of a claim, and if it is denied through some fine print point you have no hope, but your Broker can fight on and again use their large amount of business with that company as a pressure point.

Hi Bungarra,
We insured our Kedron with CIL as they have many options you can choose. So if your is an off roader and over 100K, it must be Bushtracker, Spinifex or Kedron.
CIL have things like, they will freight your caravan back to the manufacturer for repairs and not the local guy. This can be a big deal on WA and the main three are all east coast. We also had, they pay our airfares back and also tow vehicle, then pay for accomodation while the van get fixed.
Bushtracker have a specific cladding profile (Bushtracker person will know for certain)and both Spinifex and Kedron have specific colours and profiles of cladding. Things that for a WA repairer will be very hard to get, not to mention freight over without getting damaged.
I know to get repairs done with Kedron can take a month to get booked in at busy times and accomodation for that time is expensive.
Ours was just under $2000 for the year so it was not the cheapest.

One last point, when asking for a quote, do not tell them you are touring the country for a year or something like that.
