Prado Bullbar

Gday all,
Got a 2011 GXL Prado On order and am looking at getting a bullbar for it. Just wondering if anyone has experiences or advice on what types are best for these vehicles and any modifications (ie suspension) that might need to be made as a result.
Cheers

Hi, put an ARB Sahara bar on my GXL, fitted winch DLs & arial, is all good but a little pricey. TJM do a similar bar that looks OK and is quite a bit cheaper. If you use a bar that has protection for the lights ie deluxe bar you will get shadowing from lights. All in all is personal preferance.

Cheers

cheers mate.
Did you get the headlight protection bar and if so, is the shadowing a minor issue.
Did you notice the extra weight on the front end?

I got the sahara bar, best to go to ARB website and check the bars out.
Sahara bar has single tube loop in centre. No shadowing on lights.
Deluxe bar has loop centre and over lights causes shadows .
Without winch no brobs with front end.
With winch could do with a lift & upgrade on front IFS, I reckon they need a 2in lift anyway.

If you are into saving weight then team poly offer a winch capable bar which is light, strong and pedestrian friendly and also cost efficient

We have a steel TJM bar on our 150 GXL as we have a winch fitted along with driving lights and it was done before we found out about the poly bar which we have been a fan of for a very long time. Regardless of the negative comments that have been made about them

If you are going to put a winch on your bar, regardless of type, supplier etc then you need to consider a suspension upgrade and if you start down that path then you must ensure your front and rear suspension is matched otherwise the ride will be nothing but uncomfortable

Eli,
I have the full ARB bar on my 150 with ipf spotties. Never noticed a shadow. I have noticed better service from the folks at TJM for my other off road gear. Never noticed any service at all from Toyota San.

I recently put a ironman bull bar had trouble with rubber bumper but rest okay, remember the weight, you need to do a wheel alignment after installation as the toe in goes out.
Cheers.
