I recently purchased a "universal" central locking kit for my 100 series Standard Cruiser, only to find that the cabling system in the 100 did not allow for the kit to be fitted. The kit requires a steel rod system. Has anyone managed to modify such a kit to fit a 100 series, or know of a kit that would work ?

What do you mean "the 100 did not allow for the kit to be fitted??
I fitted one from Jaycar. You need to run your own cabling which comes with the kit and connect it to a permanent power supply maybe directly off the battery then remove the door trim and connect the Rod and other things so that when ativated the solenod supplied pulls in or pushes up the snipper button. It is a bit fiddly but once you have done the first door the rest will be easier.

Thanks Jeff. When I refer to cabling, I mean the cable that opens and shuts the locking mechanism, not the electric wiring for the kit. Some vehicles have a steel rod attached to the lock but the 100 series cruiser has a cable which is encased in a plastic outer case - like a brake cable on a bike. This means that the rod that comes with the kit can't be attached to the actual cable that operates the lock. There are small metal clips that come with the kit that are designed to attach the rod to the locking mechanism, but this can't be done because of the outer protective layer over the cable. Hope this makes sense ?

G'day Steve. I wonder if you might get some one on lcool that knows. There usually is if it's not in the search results. You may have to join if not already but it's free. Bob.

Thanks Steve. Got a quote for $265 from a mob called Cyclops. Is the Toyota accessort kit a genuine item available from a Toyota dealer ?
