Does anyone share my view that all the caravan/camper trailer magazines tilt their reviews towards the consumer who wants a 60k Turbo Diesel 4wd towing a 50k+ caravan or camper?
What happened to the couple or young family getting into the touring mood that need something compact and light without the bathroom, dishwasher and satellite tv set-up?
I'm looking to go from a humble Hi-Ace campervan to something just a little bigger, or a 12-15 foot caravan, but it is hard to get any info on anything smaller than a tandem axle van with everything that opens and shuts and costs at least 35k+.
Am I missing something or is the market skewed towards the cashed up Grey Nomad or the younger gen working in the resource sector or big bucks IT etc?

I've been very disappointed with the way a couple of the big mags have become infomercials for their biggest advertisers. Every review their products come out the best regardless (ARB/Cooper tyres etc). Even a bit worried that 4x4 Action is going down that path now they've bumped up their yearly number of issues to 15.

Bazz.

Hi Phil, Mark from Ballina here, Yeah agree, but these magazines & TV shows are paid for by the manufacturers & resorts, no profit in cheap vehicles & vans or cheap holidays. The camping fraternity really needs a tv show with common vehicles & affordable campers....Pat Callinan good but not everyone can take there vehicle where he does, Frankie Holden/Whats Up Downthere only shows inside van park cabins, Discover Downunder dont show the country just trendy cafes & wird people......might have to retire & do a proper camp & travel show.

Couldn't agree more. There are a couple of vans out there that shall remain nameless, I wouldn't touch with a sh*ty stick. The reviews never touch any of the real issues; they have good lay-outs pretty colors etc etc.

It's about time the editors wake up to themselves; OK so they won't get the advertising, who cares.

Cheers

Hi Racey

You said
"OK so they won't get the advertising, who cares."

No advertising = no magazine = no job - their priority like yours would be is your job

Mags are there to make money for the owner - not just provide us with cheap access to info!

cheers

Caravan & Motorhome are asking for feedback on their Forum about the Magazine

Should be right up your alley.
