Just a quick note to the idiot in the landcruiser towing the offroad Millard caravan, between Olary and
Cockburn today at 1.30 the red flashing lights mean STOP as there is a train coming, you had less than 100 metres up your sleeve. If you dont care about yourself and your passengers at least have a thought for the poor bloody train driver and the bloke behind you who has to see it all unfold, as they would probably never get over it, that train had 103 carriages and would take at least 2 kms to pull up

Was told once by someone who worked high up in the rail industry, that train drivers go through thousands of dollars each year in councilling.
It's not just those running the lights.
There are reports of mirrors being placed on the tracks, down in the riverina a few years back some clown put a life size cut out of a person on the track.
Then you have those that pretend to jump off the platform, not to mention those that do.
I can think of less stressfull jobs.

comon suicide method
of course like all suicides it never gets reported - we used to get a train driver in the
shop and he had run a few people over he said the look in their eyes while taking their lives with him in the box see with nothing to do but apply brakes was haunting
bloody selfish pricks suiciders no regard for anyone else they are the only ones that dont have to deal with it

Hi Hayjude,
The crossing you are referring to is the Cutana crossing. It's
well marked, in the open and
well designed. The Idiot that never stopped will meet their match. I have seen this happen (and to me) many times with some very close calls.
Being an ex train driver for 23 years (and driven trains over that crossing to many times to count), the stories go on and on, and who gets the blame ? the poor train driver all the time. Just ask the relations to those deceased after being cleaned up.
Cheers P&J

Heyjude
Gotta beat the train, gotta beat the train, gotta beat the train, gotta beat the train..
Takes all sorts.
I recon that nothing is that important, that you have to do it regardless of the consequences.
Best I have seen, is a
young fella got impatient, as the train was stopped 3/4 way across the road. Could not wait, so he squeezed thru, as the train driver started moving off.
Then had the cheek to give the train driver the "bird", as he drove off.
Cheers Bucky
