Would you need a treg hitch on your camper trailer to do the
Gunbarrel Highway?

I am just assuming here,
But usually, off-road trailers with good constructio and
suspension comes with better hitches standard.
Given the above it is likely that your trailer construction and
suspension is not for off-road.
If that is the case I agree with the above that the trailer itself may not be up to it
Monster corrugations that shakes your false teeth out of your mouth

Hmmm. It's a good quality offroad trailer. How do the corrugations out there compare to the ones on the Developmental Road on
Cape York?

Depends on which section of the Gunbarrel you are talking about Frances but as very little of it is maintained the Cape corrugations are much smoother. The Gunbarrel is far more destructive & in some areas there is no speed or tyre pressure that will smooth them out.

so what sort of C/T do you have and what sort of
suspension.
Its the whole package that needs to be looked at.
I would take my camper any where and have, but have travelled with many that have caused plenty of grieve.
To me
suspension is the biggest concern, and i would not have a leaf spring set up for quids, experience speaks for its self.
I have the tregg hitch fitted and has not caused any problems in over 80,000ks the trailer has travelled.

Thanks everyone. I don't think I'll go that way given all your input. I don't think the
suspension would stand up to it and I don't really want to wreck a good camper trailer and I don't really want to spend any money on it at the moment. I was just looking for a different way back to Victoria from
Broome but will go back the way we came which is via the Tanami.
BTW it is a Trackabout camper (
Kakadu model).

Why not try the GCR (
Great Central Road) for a change of scenery?
Permits req.
