A friend told me that the Holland Way was not near as daunting as the
Holland Track. I can't find it on any maps that I have here. Has anyone been on it recently , and where does it start and finish? and lastly can I tow an off road van along this road. Any info greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Tom

Did the Holland Way from
Hyden to
Boyagin Rock a couple of years ago. Could of given you the PLT file if my computer hadn't stuffed itself on the trip.
From the
Hyden Lake Noresman Rd head south from where the
Holland Track crosses the road. Keep heading down the gravel track until you hit the
Hyden Lake King Rd cross that and keep heading south west down the gravel track. Keep going the track then becomes the
Newdegate North Rd. Go through
Newdegate and turn onto the Lockart Rd keep heading south, turn right into the
Newdegate - Pingarup Rd, left into the Needilup North Rd & then right into the Holland Tank Rd. Stop a while at the tank and scour the surrounding area - quite interesting.
Holland Rocks are nearby as
well.Good
bush camping in the
reserves around here.
After here the track basically petered out for us and we just meandered through towns like
Lake Grace, Dumbleyung,
Wagin, Narrogin,
Pingelly and then onto
Boyagin Rock, where we bush camped in the regeneration area
well clear of
the rock.
there is the book put out by Weststate Publications and written by Nick Underwood & Ian Elliot called Explore the
Holland Track &
Cave Hill. It includes proper directions from
Wave Rock to
Broomehill.
Broomehill was where the track originally started in 1893 from & ended 500km later at
Gnarlbine Rock south west of
Coolgardie. I paid $10.95 for my copy a couple of years ago. And available at most WA newsagents. If not give Nick a call at Western 4WDriver magazine.
cheers
Dunc.

I bought my booklet from the ExplorOz bookshop. I don't know if they still have it, but it was invaluable as a 'tour guide'.

Hi Tom
The only part of the Holland Way that was slow going was the first few kilometres at the southern end of the Victoria Rocks Road when we travelled the Way in 2007. It did not appear to have changed much last time we saw it. The
Hyden-
Norseman Road is a wide and
well maintained for mining trucks with a lot of interested points signed, on which we have travelled with our caravan a couple of times. There would be no issues travelling on it with any caravan. Really wet weather may be another story. Our travelogue is here
The John Holland Way
The preceding pages outline the parts of the
Holland Track we travelled on, as we did not do the entire track due to concerns about the width of our F250 on narrow areas. Do not take your caravan on the
Holland Track itself due to width and winding
woodlands track. The subsequent pages are of our tour of the Woodlines, which proved to be a very interesting drive. We would have had no problems with our caravan on the woodlines that we travelled on.
