Bugger!

We'll be out that way in about a month, so I guess it can change numerous times between now and then...thanks for the update.

Cheers, The Lany

Hi OLd Girl. Have you checked the RACQ road conditions? Many of the roads in that area are showing as open. The road from the Birdsville Developmental Road to Arrabury is showing a green light and the rest of the way to Innamincka is showing as caution, but the road to the Dig Tree seems to be closed. Innamincka to Cameron's Corner via Merty Merty is also showing as open. Or is the track into Haddons Corner the problem?

Hi Kevin, My husband is there at the moment well heading for Birdsville turn off for a nap tonight, He drives up and down the Arrabury Road every second day. He looked up Haddons Corner Road and there was a road closed sign up. We were driving out to him for the school holidays but everything we want to do is closed at the moment. So were heading for Cairns instead, what a life. Innamincka Earthmoving owns the house we live in so you could say Info is pretty accurate.
Cheers

Thanks for the clarification. It seems that road reports are not much use. No wonder so many people appeal to forums for information. I will be out in that part of the state in about 6 weeks. I wonder what I will find?

The RACQ and other road condition websites are often inaccurate: showing roads closed when they are in fact open. If you are looking at them on weekends it's particularly bad as they don't get updated til Monday.

I reckon the best thing to do is ring a local, whether it be a publican, a VIC or accommodation provider. These people want tourists in their area so it behooves them to give accurate information and they know the roads and the detours. Sometimes a road may be closed at one end or the other and it is of no concern to where you want to go.

Cheers Zenoie

Hmm publican!!! depends on which one. Last year one that I'm not going to mention said "yeah great out here mate no rain" need I go on.
You have it right but. Racq and the like try but its imposable to cover the whole country in recent times. Such a big job. We just have to travel with plan A, B and some times C.
