Engel Fridge Temperature Indicator

The digital readout on my Engel 40L fridge is not working. Fridge still works fine though.
Is there a fuse somewhere or is it back to the
shop for repairs??

There is a little battery you need to replace. Under your lid should be instructions on how to do that.

hi deserter
remove the lid from its hinges by wriggling it back and
forth sideways and the screws that hold the hinge plates on
and there are 2 scews on the upper end of the fridge also remove them ease the black cover up and you will see the battery container twist it with a coin and replace the battery make sure you take note where the + sign is facing
you may have to give the battery holder a light tap to dislodge the battery it is an LR76 3v buy one from a store /chemist where there is a constant turnover or
test it before you install as it needs to be above 3volts or it wont last long
i have found they last about 12 months
when replacing the black cover make sure you get it in the right position or you will have trouble
put each screw in place and give a couple of turns and repeat until they are all in then tighten all up
been there done this many times hope this is of help

If your fridge is reasonably new, it is a CR2032 Lithium battery, but if older, the first series that had the digital readout used an LR44.
The only reason that they changes to the bigger battery was battery life. The LR44 were only good for around 12 months and they claim that the CR2032 is good for 3 years. I personally got just over 4 years out of my battery.
They are easy to install and will take you less that 5 minutes.

its good to know they have made an improvement to the capacity of the battery on 40ltr engels
you are correct with the LR44
but the LR 76 and MS76 do also fit as i have used both in the past

Don't worry, they do not break the bank at around $2.50 each. The only reason why I changed
mine after 4 years was that we were heading off for a few weeks and where we were going, I do not think that they would have had any and I knew that the battery must be getting very close to the end of its working life. It is a very simple job to do.
