dometic fridge problem

I have a problem with my large 2 door Dometic 3 way fridge. It works fine on 240v and 12 volt but won't change over to gas. This makes it difficult to
free camp. Its a new fridge and is under warranty but as I am touring the top end and inland Qld I can't get to a Dometic service agent until I get to Mt Isa.
I have plenty of gas in the bottles and the stove and hot water service work no problems.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hi Steve. My van has on/off taps underneath for each appliance. The tap would not have been turned off when the fridge was fitted would it? Cheers,Bob

Hi Bob. I wish it was that easy. I have checked and it is in the right position.
The fridge was working fine on gas for a week or so then just stopped.

I have the same fridge and find sometimes it is very reluctant to fire-up on gas. You could also pull the exterior cover off and make sure the Piezo igniter is sparking and while you're there see that the jet is not blocked.

Well what is the model number of the fridge. Is it a MES or a AES model
a bit of info and I might be able to help.

Actual model number is required to be able to offer any real help
Many of these models require a constant 12v supply this MAY be your problem!

That AES bit in the model number tells us it is one of the auto changeover types. If it is wired up to automatically change over to your tugs battery it will not go on to gas if the trailer plug is plugged in.
Get your handbook out to
check where all the 12 V lines connect up. If you do not have a meter or are fully conversant with things get some knowledgeable neighbour to do it for you.
Check that all the voltages ate present and correct at those terminals. The problem could be as simple as a blown fuse or crook wiring joint. As stated above, you need an onboard 12 V power source to light your fridge.

gas fridges and hot water systems have an attraction for wasps and other insects building nest in the flue and gas outlet near
the pilot light. blow out with air and
check nothing is blocking these.if you can get
the pilot lit and when you release
the knob the pilot goes out you may need to heat the thermo couple near pilot light to get it to open the to let the gas thru. it may be stuffed also gas fridges have to be level to operate if you don't have a level use a glass of water and place on top to see if level hope this helps

As Dags has pointed out spiders etc can be a problem
But a little more symptoms are required to try & find the problem
The AES system requires 12v to operate on gas is the battery charged ??requires min of 11.6v @ fridge
Is the ignitor functioning
a light will illuminate on the lower left front corner of the
refrigerator. if it is energising.
Can you hear a slight of gas @ the rear of fridge

thanks everone for your imput. I took the back off and checked the jet and it was blocked with dirt. All fixed. Gee this is a good site to get helpfull information.
