Depends on what you want to do up there. If you just go up the main developmental road just chuck in a second spare take it easy and you'll go to the top and back. If you want to side tracks, telegraph track or out to some of the beaches then a bit more is needed. If your planning on river crossings then a
snorkel would be wise. A winch if doing the tougher tracks. Are you towing anything or just your vehicle. Most people who get into trouble are going to hard or taking unnecessary risks, not walking creeks or driving through creeks to prove they can do it. There were some
places we didn't go cause we didn't want to wreck our vehicle. Take up
tools and spares for basic repairs. I wouold put in some spare nuts and bolts so if some shakes loose you have spares. I'm sure others will have different ideas or other stuff to take. One thing is, the more you take the heavier you are, the likely to break something.

Ps My first comment was a bit tongue in cheek as there was a you lass in a holden ute up there when we were there.

After a couple of trips up there in my 02 Rodeo a set of Old Man Emus made all the difference to the ride. I think the standard shocks are just for around town. That's all I've done to
mine, apart from a bullbar and lights.
Going up next weekend for a couple of weeks, taking three grandchildren. I don't know if that's a good move, but they think it is.

a second battery is a must in my opinion. The amount of times I have had to jump start people cars where they had all the bells and whistles just amazes me. Bullbars, expensive spotties bla bla...if you got no power you aint going anywhere

Dave. I did it in 2008. First time 4x4 trip. Nissan XTail plus Tvan. No off road experience. Upgraded to Old Man Emu Coils. Nudge Bar with spots. If you are going on the Development Road as said before take it easy and slow down on the rough parts. Dips Mean Dips, treat them with respect. Quite a lot of Black top along the way for overtaking.Take sare and have a great trip. Steve.B....
