Heading up the Cape this winter and would like advice on whether a trailer (4WD) can go to the tip. If not, is there a suitable, safe venue to park the trailer somewhere. Heard a lot about the "Telegraph Road" is it really as difficult as it sounds?

Just go there and have a look....
Take each creek one at a time...
If it gets too much you can leave the track from quite a few
places to join the main dirt road to the tip..
We have had trailers in our groups each time we have been there and no problems..
Sometimes towing a trailer through Nolans Brook can be a bit like leaving the handbrake on because of the soft sand in that creek but you can bypass that one if you want to.
We have been to the tip 6 times since 2003...

Different every year.
Cockatoo Creek (the Britz is going north, which is probably easiest).
Here is a trailer (Video clip).
Cheers,

Sorry, the Britz is at Palm Creek.
Saw a couple of camper trailers come through there. The A frames are very hard down on the ground and most weight was off the wheels.

I don't have any personal experience to share, but I can tell you that a friend towed his
Kimberley Karavan up the Cape last year. According to him, it handled it
well.
We have a Track Tvan and I would definitely tow it up there. I guess it depends on the trailer and the conditions you encounter on any given day.
Cheers

The OTL varies day to day depending on weather and traffic , and no its not as difficult as some make it out to be as long as you use some common sense ,

G'day Steve
We 'did'
Cape York last year including the Old Telegraph Track. Plenty of people do it with camper trailers, including outback Jaycos. We teamed up a couple of times with two couples with Tvans - they had no problems.
If you look at google and You Tube Old Telegraph Track crossings, you will see folks towing trailers through most crossings.
We left out campers at
Lakeland Caravan Park for one month. From memory it was $6/day but with a weekly discount.
Cheers
John

Hi Steve,
If you decide not to take the trailer, your welcome to leave it at my place on acerage in
Tolga on the tablelands.
I do recoverys of vehicles from the cape back to the tablelands, and have had travellers stay with us while their vechicles are being repaired.
Drop a line if i can help.
Cheers Col
