I leave in 4 days for 6 weeks tour and my 6 year old 40 lt Engle is a little suspect.

I am thinking of replacing it with a 47 lt ARB fridge as it will fit where the 40Lt Engle fits now.

Any good or bad reports?

If I was replacing my Engel I'd get an ARB. I've recently bought one for Mum & Dad after 4 colleagues bought them over recent years. Great fridge. No problems, but really well thought out with lots of good features.

Here is the good & the bad ....

The 1st 47lt ARB i bought was faulty it was not cooling down as good as i expected requiring minus 4 to get the beer cold, i took it back and had it exchanged for another which has been perfect. I like the way cans can be stacked better [72] and the easy to see front controls & temp setting. Centre divider can be removed or turned around to suit objects layed down.

The fridge hardly appears to cycle certainly not as much as the Engel, it has just spent two months in the ute on extremely corrugated tracks and hasn't missed a beat

I am 100% happy with the ARB fridge, & after owning 3 Engels [1x60lt & 2x40lt] All requiring new complete compressor units @ $600 each i won't buy another.

have the new ARB 47 for 12 months, and am very happy. Low battery draw, and very quiet. Also, well thought out and designed. Highly Recommended

Thank you for your advice.

My 6 year old Engel gave up the ghost, so I have purchased an ARB 47 Lt.

My 27 year old Engel 39Lt is still going strong, but noisy.

Pling,
Mate I have had several Engle fridges one of which is 12 years old and spent every day in a truck travelling this country and has not missed a beat. As for the ARB fridge, I cannot help you there as I have had no need to try one yet ( with the run I am getting from the Engle) but IMHO it would have to be good to beat a Engle. I have tried a Waco, it was only a small 6pac one so it probably doesn't count but it was useless. Cheers Mick
