G'day all
We will be in
Broome on Friday the 15th July and would like to hire a 4wd to go to
Cape Leveque for the day.
Does anyone know if ther is a place in
Broome to hire a small 4wd.
I just had a look on the net and Budget may hire them but I have to ring for a price and availability. This I will do tomorrow, but I would like to get at least 2 quotes.
I am also wondering if the gravel road section can be travelled by a 2WD? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Boo Boo,
Can't help you with the small 4WD hire in
Broome except that I recall that "
Broome Broome" car hire had some small ones (Rav4??). However, hearsay seemed to indicate that
Cape Leveque was off the list of
places you were able to (legally) take them. Note that most (all?) 4WD hire cars in this part of the world seem to have large stickers on the side advertising the hire company.
"I am also wondering if the gravel road section can be travelled by a 2WD?"
I suspect that depends on who owns it? ;-))
I certainly wouldn't be taking any 2WD of
mine up that road, given the condition it was in 3~4 weeks ago.
Hope that might help a little?
Cheers,
Chris

Chris
Thanks for the info,, I think we may have to look at an organised tour for that trip
My initial thought was that being on the coast, and only 100 or so km it might be in good shape,, oh
well it was worth a try.

G'day
John
Nice to have met you in
Halls Creek.
Good to see you got to
Broome Ok.
We have been to
Lake Argyle on a sunset cruise and a flight around the lake since we saw you.
I will give
Broome Broome a ring, but I think the road we want to travel will be a no no with them.

We are up in the
Dampier now. You really need to spend more time up here. There are so many camping
places, some not advertised, but absolute beautiful. Been up here 3 nights so far and will probably do another 4 or 5. The initial road is very rough dirt but then it is bitumen right up to the top. Most tracks to the communities are real rough! We got caught out checking out
James Price Point. Fantastic spot, but we drove in along a track near sand dunes, while towing our camper, and got stuck. Our fault. Let down our tires a few times and did get out. But we are just loving it up here. At Mayoorr
Camp Ground at Whale Song, Pedder Bay, at the moment. What a place. We are very busy relaxing just now!

Mate. Wish we could join you, but it's not a gazetted road and all of the hire
places we have checked out only give you 50 to 100km per day limit and not on an ungazetted road.
We were hoping to have a look at
Derby and a few other
places but maybe next time when we bring the troopy across.

Talk to Maui in Gadstone street,
Broome. They do not have small ones. 4 WD at this time of the year in either
Darwin or
Broome are at a premium.
